I don't uphold the expectations of what I (and apparently NonCompete) refer to as Theory Purity. Theory Purity (espoused by Theory Purists) are Socialists who follow one or both of two key elements of philosophical inconsistency with dialectical materialism:
Understanding how this flawed method of thinking affects myself and other Socialists may not prevent these methods of thinking from repeatedly surfacing, but it at least allows reflection in hindsight of the unimportant pettiness of argument and debate without the employment of dialectical materialism. With this in mind, I want to share videos about Socialist philosophy that I find enlightening, even if I may see problems within the philosophies therein.
While Comrade Andrew Sage, a Trinbagonian Anarchist, has a Socialist political philosophy antithetical to mine on the issue of the state—i.e., he believes that the state, and by extension, authority in general (an explicit belief, not inferred), can be entirely, meaningfully abolished without risk of a resurgence of authority—I do find his discussions on Anarchism, and especially his material analysis of leftist disunity (and the analysis that leftist is an effectively meaningless term), refreshing.
While the issue of the state may be irreconcilable between Anarchists and State Socialists, there's no logical reason we can't co-exist in a federation wherein we equitably contribute to each other's societies without borders, allowing people to freely explore various forms of Socialism until they find one wherein they feel safe and complete; a full realization of the Anarchist ideal of free association.
In the words of Comrade Sage: "My vision is of a world in which many worlds exist. So I work with people I disagree with, but I also know my limits. I know the extent to which we can effectively work together, and we maintain those parameters, and we still learn from each other."
Balkan Odyssey, a Balkan Communist, has calming videos about Communism, dialectical materialism, and historical materialism that make ideal background listening material while performing other tasks—an excellent way to educate yourself about Communist philosophy in a manner that's more appealing than a standard audiobook.
Hakim, an Iraqi Marxist-Leninist, has educational videos about Communism, which often concern history of the USSR, Imperial states such as the American Empire and France, and deprogramming. A minor flaw of his media is his video titles often speak in absolutes without context (which in fairness is supplied within the videos themselves) or have somewhat shocking thumbnails, which may on a cursory glance cause someone unfamiliar with his videos to drastically misinterpret his intent.
While Hakim's older videos have poor-quality editing, in recent years he hired an editor to assist with his videos. This increased the visual quality, but has caused his channel to constantly include sponsors (some of which are extremely common from desperate corporations, as his explicitly Communist videos can be off-putting to corporations) to help pay his editor. His channel is often unfairly criticized by theory purists as being, "too anti-Western," but speaking as a Communist in the American Empire, his criticisms of the American Empire are entirely accurate and justified.
Innuendo Studios, otherwise known as Ian Danskin, is a self-described leftist who used to make a large amount of video essays about the alt-right, most notably, The Alt-Right Playbook. Currently, however, he's in extreme poverty and at risk of losing his house, and likely won't be uploading any more, and consequently suggested opening up the format of The Alt-Right Playbook for public use, complete with his original assets.
The Alt-Right Playbook is a series that, as the title would suggest, seeks to teach leftists about strategies of the alt-right in debates—and more accurately, how they avoid proper debate to express power over their opposition. This series teaches not only how the alt-right recruits people, but additionally how you can notice, avoid, and prevent their recruitment strategies, and how to bring people to the left instead.
Here, I'll be including not only the full Alt-Right Playbook playlist link, but additionally some select videos I find potently important, as well as some of his other videos outside of The Alt-Right Playbook.
Luna oi!, or Luna Nguyen, is the primary translator converting the Vietnamese Curriculum on Dialectical Materialism (sometimes referred to as Ho Chi Minh Thought) to English, and uses this channel to explain Vietnamese Communism, historical events, and oftentimes direct messages to the working class.
NonCompete, operated by Emerican Johnson (E.J.) and Luna Nguyen (though largely E.J.), is a self-described Communist propaganda collective. NonCompete videos range from very low editing to well-edited videos generally concerning the history of Communist philosophy, current events, and Vietnamese Communism, sometimes referred to as Ho Chi Minh Thought.
Philosophy Tube, otherwise known as Abigail Thorn, is a professional philosopher (and actress) who uses her channel to spread the philosophy she studied and still actively studies beyond college, which often includes serious societal issues, current events, and the way she navigates life as a Transgender woman. Unsurpisingly, her extended philosophical education resulted in her becoming a Socialist, and consequently tends to discuss philosophy and historical materialism from a Transgender Socialist perspective.
